INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
-DR. ANTONIO PERALTA SANCHEZ MEXICO
SWEET ever since she woke up she sensed that this day would be very different.
The night passed with spasms and feelings of fear and anxiety; There were really few hours that she managed to keep her eyes closed, and always with that headache that from being so much, seems as if it were part of his life. Very early he arrived at the Women’s Hospital. They told him to sit down and as soon as a doctor was free they would notify him.
While trying to get comfortable on a bench as sad as her life, Dulce lets go of her memories through a dirty window that allows her to see the blue sky of a new day full of light in March. Almost 6 months have passed since her Paco left for the United States, and it was only once that she called him to tell him that it was very difficult for him to go to the other side, that he had faith in him, that as soon as he started working he would send him money, and more so now that she knew she was pregnant. Without realizing it, Dulce begins to cry because she is afraid that she will never see her Paco again-she talks so much about the disappeared-.
The doctor at the health center told her that her delivery would not be until May, but she feels that something is not right, that something serious is happening to her. And while the hours pass on that old bench, he realizes that things are moving, that a strong dizziness invades his brain, and suddenly he feels that he is floating like an astronaut on the moon.
Dulce was hospitalized convulsing; Today, which is International Women’s Day, she is in critical condition due to a complication called Eclampsia, her baby is in serious condition in an incubator, and Paco is still looking for a way to get to the promised land.
Every year in our country (Mexico) nearly a thousand women die during pregnancy or after childbirth, becoming an embarrassment to medical knowledge, and an affront to health policy leaders, given that 80% of these deaths could be prevented; maternal death is a worthy tracer of the effectiveness of government health actions in a country, because it faithfully portrays inequity and lack of respect for human rights.
It would seem that by dint of seeing and hearing daily about the thousands of deaths that have accumulated due to that war that nobody understands and that nobody wants, we have stopped being amazed by just about a thousand women who died pregnant during a year in all the Mexican republic; however, a mother who dies is more than the cessation of vital functions; it is the breaking up of a family nucleus because our families live to the rhythm of a mother, it is the generation of more than 3,000 orphans each year, with the predictable consequences of abandonment and neglect.
MARCH 8, 2019 INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY.
– For those pregnant women who wait, wait, for prompt and quality care that they were told that their popular insurance would offer.
– For pregnant teenagers, who embarrassed seek help amidst the looks that recriminate, scold and point.
– For the women who, even in this 21st century, are victims of violence by those who swore to be equals in a couple’s love story.
– For the women who help at home as domestic workers, and who now, thanks to “ROMA” the movie, want to stop being invisible because they deserve it, because it is an unfinished story and one day they deserve rewards.
There are many pending tasks to be able to face up without shame, on this Women’s Day, there is a lot of inequity and many words that slip accommodated in the scripts of politicians and leaders, who believe that celebrating a day solves the confused and violent world against women.
When we achieve equal opportunities, when discrimination is just a memory, when pregnant women have quality and warmth in their attention, when indigenous women are respected in their uses and customs at the time of giving birth, when sexual abuse minors are punished always and without exception, when the woman can dress as casually as she wants and not be a victim of harassment for that, when she can love whoever she wants and whenever she wants, only then can we say that her day is the day of all human beings.
